The Department of History at the Faculty of Education for Girls held its first scientific workshop entitled "inquiring the Manuscripts and its Impact on Intellectual Communication between the Heritage of the Nation and Building its Present and Future" on Tuesday 3/3-2015 in the presence of Dean of the Faculty of Education for Girls Dr. Iman Al Helo, Hussain Jihad Al-Hassani which is a researcher specializing in the field of inquiry and a number of researchers and students of higher educayion and primary in the college beside the Deputy Secretary General of The General Kashif Al-Getaa Foundation Sheikh Ahmad Kashif Al-Getaa and the head of Department of Indexing and inquiry of Mr. Mustafa Sarraf.

The workshop began with the recitation of a verse from the Quran. After that, there was a lecture by Mr. Hussein Jihad Al-Hassani titled "Islamic Manuscripts in Najaf Al-Ashraf, its History, Maintenance and Conservation".

After that, Sheikh Ahmed Kashif Al-Getaa gave a lecture in which he welcomed the invitation addressed to the foundation by the College of Education for Girls. He pointed out that Najaf was exposed, in the previous period, to the destruction of the heritage of Shi'ism, especially the manuscripts. Many of them were burned while another part of it was destroyed. “Therefore, the slogan of the Foundation was (collection and publication of manuscripts). It has been coordinated with the center of manuscripts to photocopy the manuscripts, and unfortunately many of them were confiscated especially in libraries such as Al-Shishtariya library and others. Here, we refer to what the manuscripts suffered in the southern part of Iraq and Najaf in particular. The manuscripts that were filmed are over 50,000 written copies, most of them are manuscripts of Iraq, especially the manuscripts of Najaf and part of the manuscripts that were confiscated and we tried to look for them after 2003. We found that some of them were sold and some were found in various places such as the center of manuscripts in Baghdad. Therefore, we have to take care of this heritage, which was written by intellectuals and our grandparents. Today we have to work to establish a project to preserve this heritage, and a good initiative is to be the University of Kufa, the first initiator of this work. Adding, the current project that we submit is directed to MA and PHD students as well as the inclusion of students who intend to complete the graduation research for students of preliminary studies and is by urging the students to rely on inquiring manuscript text. "The manuscripts of Iraq are deferent from the rest of the manuscripts in the region, because it is not inquired yet and this project urges students to investigate." Sheikh Ahmed Kashif Al-Getaa said.

A brief explanation was given about the mechanism of activating the project during the lecture, where the Dean of the College and a number of specialists present at the workshop praised it, stressing the need to hold a meeting between the Deanship and the heads of the departments of the college to draw up the implementation plan between the college and the institution. On the sidelines of the workshop, interventions were opened to attendees and practical conclusions reached.
