The first part of the document directory (10,000) documents was published by the Documents and Archives department at The General Kashif Al-Getaa Foundation. It was cataloged in detail with the title, subject, language, date, number of pages, names of the persons and the names of the cities, The book is one of the most promising and modern publications, with its scientific value and scheduled  indexes.

The reason behind the publication of the guide is importance of documents, including the knowledge, where they are legal assets through which the historian and researcher find answers to his question as well as other aspects of knowledge.

The book included the documents of Iraq, which are characterized by their specificity because of the historical depth and a cultural originality that made its documents have another importance which is the quality and quantity. So it was a priority to gather and index these  documents in a directory. Perhaps what they have faced of negligence due to the incidents that occurred in Iraq, including the monopolization and destruction of the former Baathist regime before 2003 to many important documents. And the confiscation and loss caused by the terrorist operations, which do not keep any of the features of humanity, make saving the remaining ones among the priorities that the institution worked on.

The guide not only contains the documents that is written in Arabic, but also documents in foreign languages English, Persian, Ottoman and Urdu.

As for the subjects covered in the manual, they are as follows:

1-Religious topics: Religious documents are of great historical importance, including the commemoration of the departure of a cleric, the so-called incidents, including religious and commemorative ceremonies, events, religious sermons, visits among scholars, holidays, fatwas and correspondence.

2-Political issues: These documents are related to the political aspects at the local, regional or international level, such as military publications and plans, and all matters related to the royal court and the country's relations with the regional and international environment, as well as political and other speeches.

3-Economic topics: which include customs, tax, construction projects, collection and others.

4-Issues related to the authorization papers: These documents prove the ownership of a particular right or rights, and are distributed either in the form of documents or commandments or property and ownership or contracts or forms or endorsements, including the rights of land and its settlement.

5-Social issues: They are related to gifts, donations, invitations, memos, thanks, appreciation, seals, congratulations, statements and other social matters.

6-Literary topics: It concerns about the poetry matters as well as newspapers, magazines, articles, research, criticisms, and introductions.

7-Documents relating to the holy shrines and ancient cities.

All of these documents are electronically indexed and can be searched in detail. For easy searching for a specific document, the directory includes a CD-ROM attached at the end of the book, including an Excel spreadsheet for all directory indexes.

It  is possible to obtain a copy of a document containing the guide for those who wants  to fill out a form requesting documents to prepare the document in a simplified, fast and free of charge.

The publication of the document directory as the first part, in the hope that it will be followed by other parts in the publications of The General Kashif Al-Getaa Foundation.

The invitation is open to students of universities and research institutions and all scholars to study and achieve these important documents and use them as research sources that enrich scientific research and make them well composed.
