The department is concerned with the preservation of manuscripts and documents electronically (digitally) by photographing them with special modern imaging equipment. It is done after numbering the manuscript or document, and then filming all the pages with high resolution and storing the images on storage devices to maintain them. This process helps to preserve the manuscript heritage of loss if an emergency occurs on the origin of the manuscript or document.

As well as digital photography, the department works to convert microfilm and microfiche tapes into digital images that are easy to read, read and use.
